As part of the “FinTechProfil – Innovative Technology for Assessing Investor Risk Profiles” project, on 27 August 2026 we organised and delivered the online workshop “Sustainability, the DNSH Principle and ESG Obligations of the FinTechProfil Project”, intended for project team members and representatives of the project partners.
The workshop was held as part of project activities related to the promotion of equality, accessibility and environmental responsibility, with the aim of building a shared understanding of sustainability principles and their practical application throughout project implementation. Particular attention was given to the DNSH (“Do No Significant Harm”) principle and the environmental, social and governance (ESG) aspects of sustainability.
Within the FinTechProfil project, sustainability is considered throughout the entire life cycle of digital and AI solution development – from research and development to validation, piloting and market deployment. This includes the rational use of computing resources, energy efficiency of digital and cloud infrastructure, responsible use of artificial intelligence and data, system security and transparency, and regulatory compliance.
A dedicated part of the workshop focused on applying the DNSH principle to concrete project decisions. We explored how to take into account energy consumption and computing resources, environmental aspects of procurement, equipment durability, e-waste and the potential carbon footprint of digital solutions when developing and testing AI solutions, using cloud infrastructure, procuring equipment and digital services, and managing IT equipment.
The workshop also addressed the practical application of ESG principles, with an emphasis on identifying potential risks, implementing appropriate measures, and monitoring and documenting their implementation. Topics included the optimisation of AI models and computing resources, rational use of IT and cloud infrastructure, sustainable procurement criteria, data protection, and the development of secure, transparent and accessible digital solutions.
Through a practical example and joint discussion, we considered a situation involving increased use of computing and cloud resources during the development and testing of the FinTechProfil AI agent. Participants discussed how to balance the required research and technological outcomes with the rational use of resources, data security and protection, the reliability and transparency of AI solutions, and the requirements of sustainability, DNSH and responsible governance.
The workshop concluded by highlighting that sustainability, DNSH and ESG are not stand-alone project obligations, but principles embedded in the way project solutions are developed, resources are used, decisions are made, and project implementation is monitored and documented.
